JCS Accepting Grant Proposals for Open Doors/Open Minds Interfaith Program!

JCS applauds URJ President Rabbi Eric Yoffie’s recent ‘Open Doors/Open Minds’ grassroots interfaith initiative whereby local temples are encouraged to meet in multiple educational sessions with their Christian counterparts. JCS has a long history of funding grassroots interfaith programming, best exemplified by its annual sponsorship and funding of nearly a dozen “Interfaith Institutes” in communities throughout North America). To increase participation in this new effort, the National Board of JCS has allocated funds to assist our congregations – with or without local affiliated brotherhoods – in making this happen. A committee of the URJ Interreligious Commission of which JCS is a member will review grant proposals from interested congregations, and grants will be awarded in the amount of $250-$1,000. For further information on this exciting JCS-URJ partnership, contact the national office of JCS (JCS@urj.org).
